Description
Vintage Framed Hand Embroidered Steam Train Engines Set of 6Each frame is 10" x 8" x 1 3/8".
My mom embroidered these in the late 50's-early 60's. They are embroidered on a tight-weave burlap type of linen, and have probably yellowed a bit. There are a couple of spots that I'm not sure if they are little stains, or just dark fibers of the linen. The mat is a dark forest green. I have cleaned the outside of the glass and the frames. There are some areas that have some dust and/or fabric debris under the glass that I have tried to show in the photos. There are a few light scratches on the glass of the Dewitt 1831 at the top middle.
The frames are in overall nice shape, but do have some minor nicks and scratches, some of which are shown in the photos. The paper backing on one of the frames has torn, but it can easily be replaced. All have hooks and are ready to hang!
Engine names and dates are embroidered on each:
Cincinnati Locomotive, 1856
Eight-Wheeled American Locomotive, 1890
The "John Bull", 1831
Narrow-Gauge Tank Locomotive, 1876
The "Dewitt Clinton", 1831
Double-End Tank Locomotive, 1874
Comes from a non-smoking home.
