    Description

    Up for bid is a
    Rare
    German miniature
    Pull Toy
    featuring
two adorable Hand Carved Wooden Monkeys
    on some type of sled
    .
This very cute miniature duo of monkeys was made in the Erzgebirge area or in Drechsel Village in Germany.  [I hope I got that right]  Germany has the finest craftsmen/women and carving miniature figurines requires the utmost skill.  This piece stands about 1 1/2" tall and the length is about 2 1/4" measured from the ball to the left ear of the monkey in the rear.  The larger monkey is in the "driver's seat" and the tiny monkey is sitting behind him or her and holding on with his or her hands.  Can you imagine how hard it would have been to carve those skinny arms without them breaking?  Both monkeys are a reddish/brown, except for their pinkish faces.  They have perfectly painted tiny eyes and mouths.  The bigger monkey's expression is one of contentment and focus on the road ahead.  The tiny monkey, with his outstanding ears, appears happy and is especially cute and his personality comes through, despite his or her size.  It appears that they are riding on some type of sled.  There is a very long white cord, which is still wrapped around the duo as I have not tried to undo it.  The
    condition is MINT
.  It is still in its original plastic bag.  There are two seals on the bag.  The large one is a reddish/brown circle with Gold lettering and the letters CL.  (See photo).  The other seal is a smaller circle with an off white color and green letters:  Around the top it reads: *Original Erzgebirge*. Then in the center it reads:  C.F. Drechsel Grunhainichen.  (See photo).  I have had these cute monkeys, in their original wrappings for over 30 years, in a drawer, in my non smoking home.  I purchased them when I was visiting Germany.  If you are collecting German made toys, and especially if you are looking for miniature wooden toys, look no further.  This piece is rare and well made, by the best craftsmen/women, and is so adorable.  Note:  Want to avoid a "bidding war"? You can do a "buy it now"
    Note
:  FULL DISCLOSURE:  I am using my best judgment that this is a pull toy as it is mint and I did not want to undo the cord to verify.
