A Broadway transfer of the 2018 West End revival was originally slated to open March 22, 2020, coinciding with Sondheim's 90th birthday. The production began previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on March 2, but after nine preview performances, was suspended (along with all other Broadway shows) due to a pandemic (which, apparently due to eBay rules, I'm not allowed to reference by name).  No Broadway performances were scheduled from March 12 through April 12.
Theatre closures were subsequently extended,
first to September 6, then to early 2021, and again through May 2021.
That month the production announced its return to Broadway on December 20, 2021, with an opening night scheduled for January 9, 2022
