Vehicle Details
1966 Chevelle SS Tribute with a Big Block 502 crate engine. This is truly a unique chevelle. This car started life as a 136 Malibu vin code. It has been re-badged with Super Sport 502 emblems both on the interior and exterior. The crate engine is mated to a 4-speed transmission with a hurst shifter. 12-bolt rear end. Front end disc break conversion.
This restomodded Chevelle went through a frame off restoration where the chassis and suspension was upgraded first. The body was blasted and gone through completely to remove imperfections and then given a beautiful cream paint color with gray racing stripes on the 2” cowl. The bumpers and handles have been painted gray to match. The engine was pulled, tuned and put on the dyno (have dyno output available), churning out 526 horsepower and 492 ft lbs of torque at peak. Has never been track tested, only street driven - but it is fast and loud. Has been characterized as a “stump puller”.
Very few miles on the crate engine since the restoration was completed. On the interior, kept things pretty much original but added a Bluetooth receiver to the stereo and some hertz kick panel and dash speakers. The AM radio maintains the original look. The dash cluster is original and was gone through by a specialist to function. Dyna mat underlayment beneath the carpet.
Some small quirks - the clock and heater controls don’t function and are there for cosmetics only. The inside of the trunk is unfinished and just in primer. No cancel cam on the turn signals but could be added. Passenger mirror will need adjustment.
I’m a private seller and can answer any additional questions you may have. Hundreds if not thousands of hours went into bringing this beautiful car back to life over a 10 year period. Only selling to fund something my young kids will get more enjoyment out of.
