This restored truck has been dressed in a light green as it gets ready to move into its second century of life. The paint and trim are in overall very good order, the bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy and the truck has no bumpers. There is a small wooden space for tools or other cargo between the 95-gallon tank and the cab. Note the driver-side windshield wiper, external sun visor and the dual taillights.
The 95-gallon fuel tank is Brown-certified from Brown Sheet Iron and Steel (Not for commercial use)
This truck rolls on Michelin tires, size 6.50-20, at every corner. These tires are mounted on wooden artillery wheels. The wheels and tires are all in very good shape. The truck has two-wheel drums brakes, mounted in the rear.
Under the hood is Chevrolet’s 171 CID OHV four-cylinder engine, a company mainstay by the late 1920s. It was launched in 1913 and featured splash lubrication. This model year would be the next-to-last one for motor. It is connected here to a three-speed manual transmission with a 3.82:1 rear end.
Inside, the black cloth bench seat is in excellent shape while there are mats on the floor, not carpeting. A gorgeous wooden headliner is above the driver and a four-spoke steering wheel with a wood rim. The body-colored metal instrument panel has center-mounted gauges and the inner door liners are made of wood and look good. A floor-mounted shifter completes the interior.
Competing half-ton trucks in 1927 included Ford, Dodge, GMC, International, Plymouth and many more in the pre-World War II market.
